The Team
Rohail Qureshi, MASc, BEng - Founder & Owner
Rohail holds a background in both Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. His passion for teaching began early, when he first started tutoring math to his peers in high school. That passion never faded. Over the years, he continued tutoring privately, working with students of all ages and academic levels. He has accumulated more than twelve years of tutoring experience and hundreds of hours helping learners build confidence in mathematics.
In addition to private tutoring, Rohail has served as a Teaching Assistant at both Carleton University (School of Mathematics and Statistics) and the University of Ottawa (Faculty of Engineering), supporting undergraduate students in mastering complex STEM concepts. These roles strengthened his ability to break down difficult topics, communicate clearly, and meet learners where they are — skills that now form the backbone of his teaching philosophy.
“With a subject like math, regular practice is crucial to success.” Guided by this belief, and motivated by the lack of high-quality, readily accessible live math support for Ontario high-school students, Rohail founded Better Learning — an online drop-in math help centre. “Better Learning’s mission is to make academic support more accessible, engaging, and effective for the students of today.”
Rohail’s goal is simple: to give students a space where they strengthen their math skills not by memorizing formulas or copying answers, but by truly understanding the concepts — and in doing so, becoming confident, capable problem solvers.
That’s Better Learning.
Lauren Koolhaas - Engineering Student, Carleton University
Lauren is currently pursuing an engineering degree at university, where she has developed a strong interest in problem-solving and design. Through her studies and previous experience as a tutor, she discovered how much she enjoys supporting others as they learn and build confidence.
Lauren focuses on clarity, patience, and understanding the “why” behind each concept. She enjoys breaking ideas down in different ways, encouraging questions, and helping students find strategies that work best for them. Her goal is to make learning feel approachable and to help students gain the confidence to tackle challenges independently.
Outside the classroom, Lauren enjoys biking, being outdoors, and tackling any DIY project or craft. She looks forward to helping students grow their skills and feel more comfortable and confident in their academic journey.
