Our Philosophy
At Better Learning, we challenge the myth that “you either get math or you don’t”. We believe that every student can succeed in math with the right guidance, environment, and mindset. Struggling with a concept doesn’t mean that your child is “not a math person” — it just means that they haven’t been taught in a way that clicks for them yet.
We’re here to change that. Through drop-in style personalized help, and a judgment-free atmosphere, we help students build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and actually enjoy learning math. With patience and the right approach, math can make sense — for everyone.
Give your child the support they need to succeed in math.
Who is Better Learning for?
Better Learning is designed for high school students who want more than just homework help — they want to truly understand math and build lasting confidence. Whether your child is struggling to keep up in class, aiming to boost their grades, or simply want a supportive space to ask questions and get ahead, you’ve come to the right place!
We’re here for parents who want peace of mind knowing their child is getting expert support in a structured, student-friendly environment — without the pressure, and expenses of 1-on-1 tutoring!
At Better Learning, we combine the power of qualified tutors, a drop-in format, and evening sessions running 5 days a week, to fit into busy student life.
Session Format
We run structured online drop-in help sessions designed to make math support accessible, easy, flexible, focused, and effective. Every day from Sunday through Thursday, a 4 hour long drop-in session is held and led by a qualified tutor who specializes in the student’s grade level.
There are two sessions running simultaneously - one for grade 9 & grade 10 students and another for grade 11 & grade 12 students. We cap each session at 10 students to maintain quality support and personalized attention. Your child can bring questions, work on assignments, or get help reviewing tough concepts — the tutor leading the session is there to guide them every step of the way.
Student questions are addressed based on a queue system but students can also learn from other students’ questions while they wait for their question to be addressed by our tutors.
It’s simple - drop in, get help, and leave with clarity.
The sessions are run online via Zoom and include an interactive whiteboard that allows for collaboration between the tutor and students.

Yes! Many of our tutors are bilingual and can tutor in both English and French. This is especially helpful for students in French Immersion or taking core french courses in high school. When your child joins a session run by a bilingual tutor, your child can receive support in whichever language they’re most comfortable with.

At Better Learning, we specialize in the Ontario Grades 9–12 Math Curriculum. Our sessions are designed to follow what Ontario students are currently learning in school, so support is directly aligned with their coursework and assessments.
If you’re outside of Ontario, many of the math concepts will still be helpful (algebra, functions, trigonometry, etc.), but our program is specifically structured to match Ontario’s curriculum and expectations.

Yes! There’s no requirement of coming exactly at the start time of the session, it’s flexible. You can drop in anytime! You should note that help is given on a ‘first-come first-serve’ basis and in a ‘one-at-a-time’ manner. That means if you join later during the evening, there may just be a longer wait time until the tutor gets to your question.
-
You will require a computer with stable internet access, as well as access to Zoom. Furthermore and optionally, a microphone/headset can be used.
-
To ensure fairness and quality help, drop-in session size is limited to 10 students per session. As such, access to individual sessions each evening is subject to availability. This is also to help our tutors to maintain predictability with attendance and allow them to better control the flow of traffic to ultimately provide superior service to students. As we’re open 5 days a week, we believe we provide sufficient capacity and resources for students to get the help they need throughout the week. We recommend booking as early as possible to reserve your preferred sessions.
-
As we have multiple tutors, every session may not be hosted by the same tutor.
-
We do not offer one-on-one sessions at this time. Better Learning is currently operating only as an online drop-in tutoring service.
